Investigation of the Reasons of U-15 Girls' and Boys' Hockey5s Athletes Preferring Hockey Sport

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the reasons why the U-15 Girls and Boys Hockey5s athletes, who participated in the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Turkey Championship held in 2019, prefer hockey. In addition to being the first study in this field, it was carried out with 306 participants by using the "Reasons for Doing Sports Scale". According to the results of the One-Way Anova-Tukey and T-test analysis performed in this study, in which the convenience sampling method was used, there was no significant difference between the variables of gender and place of residence and the preference for this sport at the p<0.05 significance level, on the other hand, parent education education. It has been observed that there are significant differences between the status of the parents and the profession of their parents and their preference for this sport. It is thought that the work to be done for the coaches and managers of all age groups within the body of the Hockey Federation may be important in the development and preference of hockey sport.
