Determination of Perceptions and Attitudes Regarding Organic Foods of Individuals and Athletes Making Swimming Sports (Bayburt Example)

In this study; it is aimed to examine the perception and attitude levels of individuals and athletes who do swimming in the province of Bayburt towards organic foods. The study was conducted on a total of 120 people, 37 women and 83 men, who were doing sports in the semi-olympic swimming pool in Bayburt in 2019. “Factors and attitudes affecting organic product consumption” prepared by Sarıkaya (2007) to determine the perception levels of athletes towards organic foods and “Erciyes University faculty of economics and administrative sciences academic and administrative staff and day and secondary school students studying organic food” prepared by Kacur (2009) product perceptions” scales were used. Normality test was performed in the analysis of the data and it was seen that it was normally distributed. While analyzing the data, Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient test, t-test for pairwise comparisons, one-way variance anova test and tukey test for comparisons with more than two groups were performed and the results were evaluated according to p<.05 significance level. As a result of the analyzes made; It has been determined that there is a significant difference between the participants' attention to nutrition, the places where organic products are exchanged, their purchasing status according to the reliability of organic products, the purchase status of organic products because they are beneficial for health, and the preference of organic products over non-organic ones, the sub-dimensions of the perception scale and the attitude scale. It has been determined that there is a significant relationship between the participants' occupations, ages, sports age, monthly income, frequency of organic food consumption and the organic groups they buy. As a result; In our study, “Determination of the perception and attitude levels of the athletes who do swimming in Bayburt province, it has been revealed that occupations, age, frequency of organic food consumption and the organic product groups they buy play an important role in the perception and attitude of the athletes towards organic food. It has been observed that the perceptions and attitudes of swimming athletes towards organic foods are effective on many variables. It is thought that our study will shed light on the organic nutrition perceptions and attitudes of athletes in future studies.
