Abstract

The phenomenon of work alienation has come to the fore as one of the concepts that researchers have focused on in recent years. In this context, the study aims to determine the current situation and create a foresight that will contribute to future research by performing a bibliometric analysis of the articles on the concept of "work alienation" in the field of management. For the scope of the study, 164 work alienation studies were identified and included in the analysis since 1980, when the articles on "work alienation" began to appear by scanning the Web of Science database. According to the findings, it was determined that the first study was the article titled “Redundancy of Work Alienation and Job Satisfaction - Some Evidence of Convergent and Discriminant Validity” published in the Journal of Vocational Behavior in 1980 by Lefkowitz & Brigando. On the other hand, it was determined that 164 articles written by 377 authors in total were cited 4,014 times, 2022 stood out with the highest number of articles (n=27) and the highest number of citations (n=579), and the USA was the most active country in the field. On the other hand, Turkey has contributed to the field with 18 studies and a total of 132 citations from these sections.
