Abstract

The beet webworm Loxostege sticticalis L. (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) an important pest of sunflower, is a new pest in Çanakkale province. Although it is a new pest, it spread rapidly in Çanakkale province in a short time and caused significant damage to sunflowers. In the survey studies carried out during the sunflower production season in the 2022 year in Çanakkale province, the damage of L. sticticalis was found in all parts of the sunflower plant except the root part. It has been determined that the beet webworm also causes damage to clover and fat hen, besides sunflower. The pest has been brought under control by applying chemical control.
