Abstract

This research was carried out to examine the burnout levels of boxers participating in inter-universities boxing competitions in terms of various variables. Since it is a quantitative research, the general survey model was used. The study group of the research consisted of 286 athletes who participated in the Interuniversity Turkish Boxing Championship as competitors. Convenience sampling method, which is one of the non-probabilistic sampling approaches, was used in the selection of the research group. Two separate questionnaire forms were used as data collection tool. In the first part of the questionnaire, "Personal Information Form" and in the second part, "Athlete Burnout Scale" were directed to the research group. In the process of data analysis, first of all, descriptive statistics were calculated by considering the data type of the raw data obtained with the data collection tools. Then, statistical techniques t-Test, ANOVA and correlation tests were used. In order to determine from which groups the differences detected as a result of the analyzes originate, Scheffe test from Post-Hoc analysis was used, and Tamhane's T2 test was used in cases where there was no homogeneous variance. As a result of the research; While it was determined that there was no significant difference between the groups in the variables of class, being a national athlete and losing weight while preparing for the competition, it was determined that there was a significant difference in the variables of gender, the thought of quitting boxing while losing weight, the thought of quitting boxing while preparing for the tournament, and the thought of quitting boxing during the disability period. At the same time, it was concluded that there was a positive and significant relationship in the variables of age and sports age, and a negative relationship in the variable of the number of tournaments in a year. The fact that this sample and variables have not been examined in the literature makes this study unique.
