Effect of Biochar Produced from Agricultural Wastes on Soil Quality

The rapidly increasing world population brings in its wake intense pressure on agricultural areas. Intensive tillage and climatic factors, etc., causes giverise to dramatic decreases in organic matter in soils and losses in soil fertility. The rapid decomposition of organic matteral soincreases the release of carbondioxide from the soil into the atmosphere through mineralization. Animal manure and compost application sarefrequently applied agricultural methods to in creasedecreased organic matterlevels in fields. However, in terms of climatic factors and content, these materials decompose rapidly and do not remain effective in the soil for a very long time. In recent studies, it has becomecommon to apply organic materials by enrichingthem in terms of carbon in to the soil. One of these applications is the biochar application. Biochar is the production of many different types of organic waste materials at a low temperature with a pyrolysisprocess. In this method, which is called biochar, the biochar added to the soil can stay in the soil for a longer time and decompose for a longer time. This system offers an alternative way to manage organic residuesgenerated in urban are as and agricultural production. In this study, the results of the research conductedtoinve stigate the effects of biochar obtained from plantwastes on soil quality have been compiled and discussed.
